Head to Head: Mike Huckabee ties Obama, has Huge Lead over Obama amongst Independents


New polling out today shows Mike Huckabee and Barack Obama tied, with all other GOP candidates trailing.  What is most interesting in this poll, is Mike Huckabee's huge lead over Obama amongst Independents.  The key to winning the election in 2012 will be winning over those independents who swung to Obama in 2008.  Looks like Mike Huckabee already has a head start.

Survey of 800 registered voters nationwide was conducted March 21-28, 2011. The margin of error is +/- 3.5 percentage points.

Winthrop Poll: Mike Huckabee leads by 9 across 11 Southern States

Winthrop University polled 11 southern states and the results show Mike Huckabee sweeping the south by 9 points against other potential Republican candidates.

Winthrop Poll

1. Mike Huckabee 20.4%

2. Newt Gingrich 11.4%

3. Sarah Palin 9.8%

4. Chris Christie 7.8%

5. Mitt Romney 6.7%

6. Ron Paul 6.4%

7. Tim Pawlenty 5.5%

8. Mitch Daniels 2.4%

9. Haley Barbour and Herman Cain 1.7%

11. Michele Bachmann 1.3%

States polled: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

The results include responses from 825 respondents giving results which use all respondents a margin of error of +/- 3.41% at the 95% confidence level.

Mike Huckabee discusses Weighty Issue

Mike Huckabee was on America Live today to discuss Neil Cavuto's defense of Chris Christie's weight issue.



Huckabee said:
*Chris Christie has done a phenomenal job in New Jersey bringing budget back to reality.
* Shows Matthews has nothing to hit Christie over in terms of substance so take him on about his appearance.
*He has struggled with weight so much of own his adult life.
*How much Chris Christie weighs has no major barring on the kind of job that he does as the governor of New Jersey.
