Mike Huckabee hosts wildly successful Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day

Hats off to Mike Huckabee for showing the liberal left that America still stands for the First Amendment right to Freedom of Speech.   Twitter, Facebook and numerous websites were busy posting picture after picture of happy customers willing to wait in long lines to support Chick-fil-A.

It all began when Dan Cathy, President of Chick-fil-A, had his words twisted and taken out of context.  What did he say?  Dan Cathy said "guilty as charged" for believing in the traditional family. Liberal mayors in Boston, Chicago, San Francisco and Washington DC declared that Chick-fil-A would be prevented from opening up restaurants in their city. Why? All because the Chick-fil-A president supports the biblical definition of the family unit: marriage between a man and a woman.  There are no reports anywhere of Chick-fil-A being biased against or harassing gay customers or gay employees. Yet the liberal left wanted Chick-fil-A boycotted.

Mike Huckabee started up a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day Facebook page inviting people to support Chick-fil-A on August 1st.  After receiving thousands of likes on his invite, Facebook took down the page.  Mike Huckabee asked why it was removed and magically, 12 hours later, the Facebook page reappeared. Was Facebook trying to censor Mike Huckabee?

Chick-fil-A is a successful family owned company that has a history of espousing Christian values and treating its employees, customers and communities with the highest respect. The assault by the liberal left has led thousands across America to affirm Chick-fil-A. Some are doing it in support of First Amendment rights. Some are doing it in support of traditional marriage. Americans, even if they do not agree with Dan Cathy's stance on biblical marriage, are showing the liberal left that one cannot bully companies into submission.  America is still the land of the free- freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom for companies to invest in markets. And the home of the brave- sticking to your personal, moral convictions, staying closed on Sunday so families can worship and have a sabbath day of rest, and letting America know that they need God. 

God bless the employees who worked so hard today serving a record number of customers. God bless the suppliers who delivered the incredible number of menu ingredients and paper supplies needed on this day. 

And a special thanks to Mike Huckabee for being the Somebody who did the Something. We are all grateful for your courage to step up and support Chick-fil-A and our First Amendment rights. It's not too late to RSVP to Mike Huckabee's invitation. 

Choose Cruz: Mike Huckabee backed the wrong candidate

What was Mike Huckabee thinking when he endorsed David Dewhurst for Texas Senate? When you look across the country at the recent additions to the Senate and the House, you see bold freshmen who have a history and philosophy of fiscal restraint, limited government, and protecting the Constitution. You do not see a lot of 3 term Lt. Governors with a history of blocking conservative bills, being endorsed to go to Washington DC. Perhaps the Dewhurst endorsement was due to a longtime friendship.

As someone who has a lot of respect for Mike Huckabee and made thousands of phone calls for Huckabee for President in 2008 and for some HuckPAC candidates, I have not always agreed with who Huckabee endorses. Take Donald Young in Alaska, Andre Bauer in South Carolina and now David Dewhurst in Texas. Mike Huckabee was against candidates who could bankroll their own campaigns and instead felt that campaigns should be funded by people who trusted in the candidate. Then why not choose Cruz? Ted Cruz has an enormous level of grassroots support: 48,000 donations under $250 compared to Dewhurst's 4,000. Independently wealthy David Dewhurst has donated $11 million dollars to his own campaign. Ted Cruz has donated $800,000.  I was one of those grassroots supporters who donated under $250 hoping to make a difference. Thousands like me were successful in helping Ted Cruz, who has now raised more money than Dewhurst. All of these numbers add up to show that Huckabee miscalculated and backed the wrong guy.

In the 2008 GOP Presidential race, Mike Huckabee championed the FairTax, but in our Texas Senate race, Huckabee endorsed Dewhurst who does NOT support the FairTax. Huckabee's belief in the FairTax should have led him to endorse Cruz who stated that he will co-sponsor the FairTax. In a 2011 blogger conference call that I participated in, Huckabee talked about building support for the FairTax by taking the concept directly to the people who would in turn create a groundswell of support and ask their representatives to bring forth a FairTax bill. How can that be achieved with Dewhurst who was head of the Texas Senate? He never discussed the FairTax with the voters nor did he encourage it to be brought to the senate floor.  Last year Huckabee went before the House Ways and Means Committee stating: "we must work together to elect another record number of candidates to Congress (House and Senate) next year who support the Fair Tax or who are willing to learn more about it and a Republican President who will sign this legislation." Looks like Huckabee forgot about his FairTax call to arms. Texas already has supporters who co-sponsored FairTax Bill H.R.25: Senator John Cornyn and Texas House members: John Carter, Michael Conaway, John Culberson, Blake Farenthood, Michael McCaul, Randy Neugebauer, Pete Olson, Ted Poe, and Mac Thornberry. Ted Cruz as a Senator, would be standing alongside these FairTax fighters. Dewhurst would not.

Mike Huckabee is a religious guy who believes America was founded on Judeo-Christian values. Those values and our rights to Freedom of Religion have been trampled on by a secular society who wants to remove God from the public square. The atheists will continue to wage war on those who hold biblical beliefs; we need a fighter in the US Senate who has a proven track record of winning to counter these atheist attacks. Ted Cruz successfully took up the cause of over 3 million Veterans in defending their right to honor those who had fallen in combat with the Mojave Desert Veterans Memorial which is in the shape of a Cross. Ted Cruz successfully defended the words “under God” in the Texas Pledge of Allegiance, and effectively defended the constitutionality of the Texas Ten Commandments monument. With those successes, we need Ted Cruz to fight for our Religious Liberty.

In 2008, Mike Huckabee got slack from conservatives for his approach to illegal immigration. While Huckabee is a strong supporter of border security and Legal immigration, he was honest with voters about how we should treat children of illegals and even illegals themselves, stating that they should not be made to feel like they have to hide in the shadows. With Huckabee’s courage to stand by his convictions, why would he support David Dewhurst who supports amnesty and recently scrubbed a 2007 speech he gave from his official Lt. Governor website?  Ted Cruz, on the other hand, is against amnesty, has fought to strengthen and secure our borders, and championed efforts to enforce laws punishing illegal felons. Seems like Huckabee would like Ted Cruz's honest, forthright approach instead .

Ted Cruz is a fresh voice that voters can trust to stand up for Liberty, defend the Constitution, support the FairTax and work to reform and enact a Legal immigration program. Ted Cruz is a solid, conservative who stands by his convictions despite the costs, and will not compromise once inside Washington.

So once again, I am putting on my campaign volunteer hat and helping elect a candidate that will make for a better America. I hope you will vote for Ted Cruz in the July 31st run-off. Wish Huckabee would admit he backed the wrong candidate, and get on the Cruz bandwagon.

Mike Huckabee is expanding his time on the air. He debuts a new radio show Monday April 9th through the Cumulus media network. The show will air weekdays from 12-3 ET in over 200 markets.

Mike Huckabee who has a knack for being conservative but not being angry about it, will discuss topics in a conversational way rather than being confrontational. “I don’t want it to be a show that every day, every hour, pushes everyone’s buttons to raise their blood pressure,” Huckabee says. “I figure the cost of high blood pressure is enough already.”

Huckabee will engage his listeners in the most important topics of the day including a heavy dose of politics.

Mike Huckabee held another successful GOP presidential forum with the focus this time on jobs and the economy. Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum were each given an equal amount of time to answer questions by both professionals in the economic field and by local Wilmington Ohio residents. Criticism was rampant on twitter (#huckforum) for the first time regarding Huckabee's forum as supporters noted that candidates were not asked the same questions nor were they each given follow up questions. 

Watch the videos yourself and decide if any candidate was given softball questions. My theory is that for those candidates that were given the tougher questions, it opened the door for them to reach voters with their thoughtful, well spoken answers. Without those more imploring questions, voters may not have realized their depth of knowledge on the issues.

UPDATED: Mike Huckabee to Host Pre Super Tuesday GOP Forum

Mike Huckabee will continue with his successful GOP Presidential Forums by hosting one on Saturday March 3rd, right before Super Tuesday, in Wilmington Ohio. GOP presidential candidates include Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.

Guest debate moderators will be Elaine Chao, Charlie Gasparino, and Peter Schiff . The focus of this forum will be jobs, the economy and each candidate's economic platform.

This forum will be taped earlier in the day and air during an extended Huckabee Show from 8-10 pm ET.

Mike Huckabee gives Glimpse into Why His Heart said No

As the race for 2012 unfolds and Mike Huckabee is asked to give his opinion on the GOP candidates' platforms and strategies, Huckabee has given us small glimpses into why he decided against a run.

This exchange between Neil Cavuto and Mike Huckabee shows us one reason why his heart said NO.

Huckabee: "But what's the point if you can't look in the mirror and believe..."

Cavuto interrupts to say "to get to the White House."

Huckabee: "On what terms? And if you get there, and in some way you have to be dishonest to your own heart. Then just remember, that whatever you use to have to get there, is what you will have to continue to use to stay there. And it's just not worth it when it gets down to it. It's easier to walk away from a job that you want than to walk away from your own integrity and character."

Ed Rollins stated that he did have a path for Huckabee to win the nomination. But maybe Mike Huckabee thought the cost was too high and not worth it.

I think this is one of the reasons his heart said "NO."  And in doing so, Mike Huckabee has been able to expand his platform and continue to highlight the principles that got him into politics.

On Wednesday, December 14th, Mike Huckabee will be host to Citizens United's new film The Gift of Life. Screening the film first before more than 1000 Iowans, Huckabee will then host a forum that focuses on the issue of Life. Life that begins at conception and contains all the DNA necessary to develop into a baby. This is the key issue that got Mike Huckabee involved in politics. It's where his heart is held captive when it comes to social issues.

So far only four Republican candidates are attending the forum: Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry and Rick Santorum.  Huntsman, Paul and Romney were invited but have yet to RSVP with a yes.

The issue of keeping a pregnancy or ending it in abortion is not the key issue that plagues the hearts of those who have been unemployed for over 99 weeks or of small business owners who just don't have enough capital to consider hiring another employee in the new year. But that doesn't mean it is not a key issue for many voters who have worked hard to further the Pro-Life cause.

Mike Huckabee has an exemplary record of championing Pro-Life bills and getting them passed through a Democrat legislature in Arkansas. So I hope he asks each candidate what they have done either personally or professionally to help change the hearts and minds of those in the pro-choice camp.

Why are the other candidates not signed on to this forum? What does Jon Huntsman have to lose? He has bragged openly about being more pro-life than Mitt Romney. So why not take the time to sit down and discuss with those 1000 Iowans his record in Utah? His numbers in the polls could only go up.

Mitt Romney, who is not really trusted on this issue, could use this platform to cement the fact that he truly is a fighter for the pro-life cause.  Yes he will open himself up to questions, but he has been running as a pro-life candidate for six years now so he should have some pretty darn good answers.

And finally Ron Paul, an OB/GYN who stated in 2007 “If you can’t protect life then how can you protect liberty?” should be at this forum highlighting his credentials in the Pro-Life fight.

This forum will give viewers insight on an issue that has hardly been discussed this election cycle.  But with the true meaning of Christmas being about the birth of Christ, it seems like the perfect time of year to talk about the unborn. Mike Huckabee has prepared a seat for them at the forum, and they won't be turned away.

Tebow Mania has taken the country by storm. Everyone seems to be writing about him and giving their perspective on his football skills, his faith, and his ability to help the Denver Broncos win.

I find Tim Tebow to be a great role model, not only for kids, but for anyone who is part of a team. I like how Tebow always gives credit to his teammates and emphasizes some of their winning plays on the field.

Mike Huckabee, a former 2008 Presidential candidate himself, designed a forum that would give all candidates equal time, substantiative questions, and an opportunity to showcase their campaign for the American voter. There were no gotcha questions, no pitting one candidate against another, nor any silliness where a candidate has to raise his/her hand. As HotAir stated, it was Hucktastic.

Only one candidate declined the opportunity to answer the questions by Attorneys General: Pam Bondi, Ken Cuccinelli and Scott Pruitt--candidate Jon Huntsman. Mike Huckabee noted that Huntsman blew an opportunity that will definitely affect his campaign via GOP12

Mike Huckabee to Shape GOP Focus in Final Weeks Leading Up to Iowa Caucus

Mike Huckabee will hold a GOP Candidate Forum on December 3rd in the New York Fox News Studio. Attorney Generals Pam Bondi (FL), Ken Cuccinelli (VA), and Scott Pruitt (OK) will assist Huckabee in asking questions. The focus of the forum has not yet been revealed, but the format has been detailed according to the Caucus:

Our goal is to have a unique and intimate setting in which each candidate is given equal time.


· The forum will last approximately 90 minutes.

· Candidates will be individually questioned. At no point will candidates have on-air interaction with each other.

· The order in which candidates are questioned will be determined by a draw. Each candidate will have an 8-10 minute question and answer session. The exact amount of time will depend on commercial break structure.

· Candidates will be in the studio one-by-one for their Q&A. The remaining candidates will be watching the forum from their private work space provided by Fox News.

· At the end of the forum, each candidate will be given one-minute rebuttal/final thoughts. Candidates will be on separate cameras.

· There will be no studio audience.

So far 5 of 8 Republican candidates have agreed to attend the forum: Bachmann, Gingrich, Paul, Romney, and Santorum. Huckabee is still waiting to hear from Cain, Huntsman and Perry.

Will these candidates win over an endorsement from Gov Mike Huckabee should they answer the questions to his satisfaction? Huckabee has stated numerous times that he will not endorse during the primaries, but will enthusiastically get behind the eventual Republican nominee.

However, the questions that he asks will help shape the focus of the final weeks leading up to the Iowa Caucus. Huckabee is also scheduled to host a Pro-Life forum in Iowa on December 14th.

Mike Huckabee continues to lead on the issues that defined his campaign in 2008. On December 14th, he will host Republican candidates in a Pro-Life forum in Des Moines, Iowa.

This forum will feature a Pro-Life documentary, The Gift of Life, narrated by Governor Mike Huckabee and produced by Citizens United:

Eight of the Republican presidential candidates have been invited to discuss abortion and the Pro-Life cause 20 days before the Iowa Caucus. Will any of these candidates turn down the opportunity to speak to Iowa voters? And if they do, does this imply that the Pro-Life cause is not a value that they would further if they won the White House?

Politico reports: "Every conservative candidate for president will be fighting to come to this event," said David Bossie, Citizens United's president. "I think the campaigns see the value to be at a forum, in Iowa, three weeks before the caucus, standing next to Mike Huckabee. This is a unique opportunity."

Let's hope that all 8 invitees* reply yes and show the nation that while the key priority in America is JOBS, they all agree with Mike Huckabee that Every Life has Intrinsic Value and Worth.

You Be the Somebody, You Do the Something: Huckabee Republicans

Before the 2008 presidential race I did not pay close attention to the selection process of either party's eventual nominee. I always voted in the general election, but not the primaries. That all changed when Mike Huckabee caught my eye during the GOP debates. He was a breath of fresh air standing by his convictions and not worrying about political correctness. While he did not end up as the Republican nominee, he did bring into the party a whole new batch of grassroots volunteers dedicated to making a difference.

One key phrase that Mike Huckabee championed was "You be the Somebody, You do the Something." Huckabee supporters took those words to heart and got actively involved in politics. For many this was their first foray into the political arena. These supporters that are called HucksArmy made Get Out The Vote phone calls, worked on local campaigns, petitioned their congressmen, went to rallies, and even decided to run for office themselves.

While Mike Huckabee decided against running in the 2012 election, he is still making a difference by standing up for the principles that he ran on in 2008. He has used his Huckabee Show to fight against Obamacare, bloated government spending, bailouts, and failed foreign policy that has hindered our standing in the world. He has worked hard to Repeal Obamacare by participating in the Repeal Healthcare Act campaign. In July Mike Huckabee went before the House Ways & Means Committee in support of the FairTax.  And of course, he continues to promote and further the ProLife cause.

Huck supporters are certainly disappointed that Mike Huckabee is not running this time around. But he is not sitting idly by, nor should we. As a Huckabee Republican, We Can Make a Difference. Find the issue that is near and dear to your heart. Volunteer at an organization that is championing your cause.  Contact your congressperson and let them know where you stand on the issues. Donate to a cause that needs funding. Run for office and be the needed change at the local level.

The race for 2012 will not include Mike Huckabee. But you can still Be the Somebody Who Does the Something.

It's Time for Huckabee's October Surprise

Earlier in the year Mike Huckabee stated that the process started too early and was driven by the pundits. We have seen several GOP candidates rise and fall throughout the primary process. None of them have captured the hearts of the voters.

It is not too late for Mike Huckabee to enter the race.

Mike Huckabee's Window of Opportunity

The level of GOP dissatisfaction with the current crop of presidential candidates has created a window of opportunity for Mike Huckabee to enter the race for the Republican nomination.

If he chooses to do so:

Will opponents and their surrogates balk at Huckabee's change of heart?  ("All the factors say go, but my heart says no.")  Probably, but Mike Huckabee can turn it around by stating that their constant fighting on the debate stage and their lack of focus on reforms has given him heartburn.

Will pundits frame the entrance as too late citing Rick Perry's recent example of imploding on the debate stage? They will try but Mike Huckabee is best known for being an articulate, quick witted debater. While he has not been on the current debate stage, he has been on the hot seat-the HotSeat segment of his show-where he has debated liberals on economic, social, and foreign policy related issues. In addition, Huckabee has hosted conservative guests highlighting topics such as the debt ceiling, healthcare reform, job creation, Israeli/Palestinian conflict, and the FairTax.

Will his opponents place a target on his back like they did with Rick Perry in the last three debates? Hard to say. But given that Mike Huckabee had most of them on his show where they could highlight their platforms and set their records straight, it is highly unlikely that they would attack him right away.

Is there enough time for Huckabee to frame the debate? Yes, Mike Huckabee wrote in his book A Simple Government 12 chapters showcasing underlying principles and solutions to make America strong. All Huckabee has to do is provide additional detail on his reforms. That will allow voters to see that Huckabee's 10 1/2 years of managing a microcosm of the federal government has left him best prepared to take on the challenge.

Is there room for another GOP candidate-a late entry? Yes, the straw poll conducted in Florida is one such poll that shows dissatisfaction with Mitt Romney and Rick Perry--71% of the ballots cast were against the two front runners. Herman Cain won the straw poll earning more than Mitt Romney and Rick Perry combined.

Recent polling continues to show that undecided and not sure is still a preferred option amongst the voters.

Mike Huckabee headed to Congress in Support of the Fair Tax

Even though Mike Huckabee is not in the GOP race for 2012, he is still standing firm and leading on the issues that were part of his 2008 platform.  On July 26th, Mike Huckabee heads to Congress to address the House Committee of Ways and Means on the Fair Tax.

Mike Huckabee conveyed this message via HuckPAC:

"Now is the time! As Americans give an unfair and growing amount of their paychecks to the Federal Government, our mission is clearer now more than ever:

Folks, it is time we put the IRS out of business.

Together we can accomplish this goal if we work hard to show to the Republican controlled House of Representatives during next week's hearing that an overwhelming number of Americans are behind the FairTax.

Then we must work together to elect another record number of candidates to Congress (House and Senate) next year who support the Fair Tax or who are willing to learn more about it and a Republican President who will sign this legislation.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Fair Tax – let me briefly explain how it works.

You get rid of income tax.

You get rid of all the withholding.

You get rid of corporate taxes completely, totally. After all – those taxes are not really paid by the corporations. They're passed on to the customer with a 22 percent embedded tax in the system.

You eliminate that, which means the prices of what you purchase will go down.

You replace it with a 23 percent consumption tax. Now, that sounds expensive, but you only pay when you purchase something new, whether it's a product or a service.

Also, It's a completely transparent tax system.

It doesn't increase taxes. It's revenue neutral. It will bring business back to the United States that is leaving our shores – our current, complicated, unfair tax laws make it impossible for an American-based business to compete with lower tax structures in other countries.

Don’t tell me something this “sweeping” can’t be passed. With your help . . . it can – and it will.

I urge you to sign my petition of support for a FairTax Congress. Help us reach 100,000 signatures by July 25th at midnight. Why? So I can say when I testify about the FairTax before Congress, that over 100,000 Americans are standing with me today."
